In Catholic schools, potential Foundation Governors submit a nomination form that is reviewed by the Bishop or diocesan authority, who evaluates their suitability, skills, and commitment to Catholic education before making an appointment. Throughout this process, governing bodies follow national expectations for strong, skilled governance as outlined in the Department for Education’s governance guidance.
